On behalf of Hip Hop 4 Justice, I would first like to thank everyone who has helped us to get to where we are. It has truly been an amazing and very organic journey!
I thank all of the legendary artists and influential members of the Hip Hop community who have blessed us with their presence as guests on our platform, along with the many community leaders and activists who have joined us and given us the benefit of their knowledge and experience.
HIP HOP 4 JUSTICE was established after the SFPD involved shooting of Mario Woods, December 2, 2015. A shooting that was seen by the community and many others as an “execution by firing squad” and led to the establishment of the Justice For Mario Woods coalition. It was from this organized effort that Hip Hop 4 Justice formed. What began as a narrowly focused idea to have a Nationwide conference call with as many artists as we could get, asking them to help support our local fight for justice and make it nationally known, has now grown to have the potential of a global movement:
HIP HOP 4 JUSTICE
“An Artistic Collective Fighting Injustice.”
So what’s next?
Every house, every building, every structure needs first, a solid foundation. We have been building a foundation for the past 3 1/2 years. Since the beginning of this platform, our focus was to give a demonstration of our commitment by being consistent with our program. I believe we have done that. Now, in order for us to continue what we’ve been doing and to take it up to the next level.
I’d like to share some of what we envision.
THE ARCHIVES
To date we have amassed a tremendous amount of content (Interviews and discussions) that we now need to produce into what will be our global HIP HOP 4 JUSTICE RADIO SHOW, to be hosted exclusively on RAPstation.com
CONFERENCE TOURS
We have a desire to produce and host solution based conferences that will travel throughout the country, comprised of legendary and local artists, along with local leadership that represent Community Based Organizations, Religious, and Youth organizations, engaging in dialogue and discussions that address the many issues and concerns of our community. These conferences may feature panel discussions on various topics, as well as breakout sessions or workshops that focus on a specific issue within the community or a particular discipline within the music industry. These conferences may take various forms depending on location and need but all will culminate with LIVE performances from the local and legendary artists who participate.
HIP HOP TO EDUCATE
We have been blessed with a member of our team who has been an educator for over 20 years and has begun developing a hip hop based curriculum. Our Sister “Half Pint” has already put to use aspects of this curriculum with great success. We would like to transcribe our many, many hours of audio recordings into tools that will help shift the educational paradigm.
FINANCING
THE CULTURAL REVOLUTION
Your donations will allow us to expand our reach and increase our sphere of influence. There are no corporate sponsors backing this movement. It’s our belief that if we unite and pool our resources, we can finance our own movement.
Imagine if 5K people each donated $2. That’s $10K...just like that! Now imagine if 5K people each donated $10....That’s $50K!
Now we can begin planning a Hip Hop 4 Justice conference tour to multiple cities and states, where we work on identifying, developing and activating those who desire to become social change agents where they live.
NEXT, your generosity will help us make necessary production upgrades to our podcast and radio show, including a visual component where we now can be viewed by our listening audience with professional staging appropriate for such a platform. Your help will also allow us to develop and launch a line of merchandise to continue generating resources to keep us as a movement, independent.
$20 | $50 | $75 | $100 +
IN CONCLUSION...
We hope that our transparency is encouragement as we ask that you kindly help us achieve this next phase of our work. We intend to do all that we can to help raise the condition of our people and the condition of the masses who cry out for justice, no matter where they are. Thank you all for your support.
